To become a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India after 10th, you need to follow following steps:

  1. Enroll in Foundation Course:

How To Persue Your Career

Step 1

Complete your Highschool (10th)

Complete your Highschool (10th) with any subject.

Step 2

Register with ICAI and Complete your Intermediate (12th)

While doing your intermediate register with ICAI for foundation course [1st January or 1st July]

Please note:

1. you can complete your intermediate with any stream to become CA, but its recommended that you complete it with commmerce stream.

2. While doing your intermediate, you can also prepare for CA foundation exam.

Step 3

Qualify class 12th and Foundation

Qualify class 12th and Foundation [ May/June or November/December]

Please note in a year CA foundation exam is conducted 2 times and you can appear any of them and any time.

Step 4

Register for intermediate exam

Once you clear your CA foundation exam  Register for CA intermediate exam
 

Step 5

Appear in CA Intermediate exam

Appear in intermediate exam (Group1 and Group 2) after 8 months of study period and  Pass in either or both groups of Intermediate.

Please note:

If you have already cleared Intermediate level examination of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India then you can directly appear in CA Intermedite exam without clearing CA Foundation exam.

Step 6

Attend 4 weeks of ICITSS

4 weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills ( ICITSS )
1. ITI - 15 days
2. OP - 15 days
 

Step 7

Register for 3 Years Articleship

Register for 3 Years Articleship (practical training) under certified CA having

1. 10 to 15 years of working experience

2. should not have more than 8 articles working under him

How to apply for Articleship:

1. ICAI

2. Use Reference

3. Use external website (like naukri.com, linkedin)

Step 8

Register for Final CA course

After completing all the above steps, Register for Final CA course
after passing both group of intermediate (Group 1 and Group 2)

Please note:

You can appear forr ICITSS and 3 year Articleship after passing in either or both groups of Intermediate but to appear CA Final, you need to pass in both groups of  CA Intermediate exam.

Step 9

Become CA even after doing Graduation

Are you Commerce Graduates/Post-Graduates (55%) OR Other Graduates/Post-Graduates (60%) ?

Follow the below steps to become CA:

1. Register for intermediate exam undergo 4 weeks ICITSS

2. Join 3 year PT and appear in intermediate exam after 9 months of PT (Articleship)

3. Register for Final CA course after passing both group of intermediate (Group 1 & Group 2)

Step 10

Successully completes 4 weeks AICTSS

During last 2 year of PT Successully completes 4 weeks Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (AICITSS)

1. Advanced ITT - 15 days

2. MCS - 15 days

Step 11

Appear for CA Final exam

During last 6 month of PT and after successfully completion of AICITSS Appear for CA Final exam (Group 1 & Group 2)
 

Step 12

Complete Practical training (PT) and Qualify CA Final exam

Complete 3 years of Practical training (PT) and Qualify CA Final exam

Step 13

Enroll as a member of the ICAI

After clearing CA Final Exam, Enroll as a member of the ICAI and be designated as “Chartered Accountant”.
